Just because you can’t see the dirt, that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Some standard cleaning methods can fail to remove all of the germs, resulting in health risks for those working in office spaces. Here are some tips to help you correctly clean your office space.

After the impact of Covid-19, we have all become more aware of hygiene and the importance of cleaning regularly. Offices are now cleaned more often, with the focus typically on floor areas, surfaces, kitchens and restrooms. But there are many areas that are often overlooked, such as the microwave, door handles, keyboards, coffee pots, phones and even the air conditioning systems.

It takes more than a mop and bucket to safeguard against germs, it takes disinfecting and sanitisation as well. Here are some top tips to help you keep your office safe and healthy.

Disinfecting

Germs such as bacteria or virus organisms can cause illness if not disinfected. They can be transmitted through direct contact with touch-points such as door handles, coffee pots and keyboards etc. We suggest including a surface sprayer into your cleaning routine. Like the I-fogger that is perfect for high-traffic spaces. Just be sure to use it outside of office hours so that the fog has time to settle.

Desk areas

While a clutter free desk can make it easier to clean, there will still be dirt and bacteria on the surface. In fact, the average desk area contains more than 10 million bacteria, which is 400 times more germs than can be found on a toilet seat. Regular cleaning of desk areas should include dusting, disinfecting and cleaning.

While cleaning desk areas, be sure to disinfect laptops and phones. Phones pick up the largest amount of bacteria, especially if shared, because they are held next to mouths and are high risk areas for transferring bacteria. We suggest giving the I-scrub 26H a go to get the durst from your desk, before disinfecting.

i-scrub 26H

The i-scrub 26H features a revolutionary light in the dark! Featuring an integrated LED light and patented soft edge technology which allows for cleaning round areas. Just switch the handle for a telescopic tube, and you clean hard to reach places that are up high. It is 50% faster than a regular micro-fibre cloth and more ergonomic.

Air Quality Control

Something that can be over looked, is the air quality. Poor air quality indoors can result in allergic reactions, asthma attacks and virus transmission. Usually, an unpleasant smell will be a tell-tale sign that a space is unclean, although you may not always be able to tell if the air quality is poor. Unclean and stale air can negatively impact moods, create headaches and even fatigue. Many office spaces play it safe with a ventilation system.

We suggest giving the I-air purification system a go. It filters aerosols out of the air, resulting in perfectly clean, healthy and fresh air for indoor environments. The I-air filters out solid contaminants, breaking down all VOCs and neutralising all living harmful microbes, including viruses.

Vacuuming

On the surface, many vacuums leave everything looking great. Although many are not able to get bacteria and dirt that is lurking past a certain depth on floors. The I-vac uses the highest vacuum cleaning filtration level available. This allows it to stop dust, bacteria and dust mites from repopulating after the area has been vacuumed.  If your office space includes hard floors, consider the I-mop, which clean surfaces quickly and efficiently with minimal chemicals and water usage.

Show your results

With the I-know kit, you can see how clean your office space really is. Use the ATP tests from the kit to see if a surface has been cleaned thoroughly or not. Alternatively, you can use the black light that is integrated in the I-scrub 26. The blacklight provides you with instant feedback of cleaning results, plus the handy scraper helps to remove stubborn soils. Get in touch with your Sales Rep to find out more about office cleaning.
