Did you know that 1 in 4 refillable bulk soap dispensers, typically poured from a jug, are contaminated with illness-causing bacteria. As a result, users of public toilets, leave with 25 times more germs after washing with contaminated soap.

Luckily there is a better way! With sanitary sealed soap dispensers, you can provide your customers with a safe, smart and sustainable alternative.

Refillable bulk soap dispensers threaten the health of washroom users.

A refillable soap is the kind that is typically poured from a gallon jug of soap, into a dispenser reservoir. One in every four refillable bulk soap dispensers are contaminated with illness-causing bacteria. Once a dispenser becomes contaminated, it can’t be cleaned, even with bleach! This is because the bacteria re-grows. So contaminated dispensers need to be replaced in order to protect the health of washroom users.

The World Health Organzation have recognised the bacterial contamination risk of “topping off” refillable bulk soap dispensers and has issued guidelines against the practice.

Refillable bulk dispensers work against your efforts to create a clean, healthy and productive environment. Luckily, there is a better way! With sanitary sealed soap systems, you can provide your customers with a safe, smart and sustainable alternative.

germs from a refillable bulk dispenser

A bulk soap contaminated study showed that microbiological contamination of soap can result in infections and nosocomial outbreaks. Samples of liquid soap were collected from open refillable dispensers and showers and their bacterial content was analysed. The results showed unsafe levels of bacterial contamination in 25% of the samples. The average contamination level was over 1,000,000 bacteria per mL of soap. This level of contamination is 1000 times greater than that which is recommended by cosmetic industry standards. In contrast, no bacterial contamination was found in soap dispensed from sanitary sealed systems. The conclusion of this study was that all unsealed, open, bulk dispensing systems should be eliminated and replaced with the safer alternative; sanitary sealed soap dispensing systems to avoid unnecessary public health risk.
